Hey… you.
Quick question:
Did you know there’s already a spot for you in Paradise, and a spot for you in Hellfire?
And once we die, the first stage of the Hereafter begins: our grave.
In that moment, we’ll be asked three simple questions.
How we answer them determines what comes next — either one of two things will happen:
- A door to Paradise will be opened.
We’ll see our place in Jannah, feel its breeze, smell its scent, and we’ll be grateful to Allah, deeply and sincerely.
Or…
- A door to Hellfire will be opened.
The grave will close in on us.
We’ll feel the squeeze.
We’ll be shown what we could have had in Paradise — and we’ll have no one to blame but ourselves.
May Allah protect us.
So Now — Do This With Me
Don’t think too much or too far ahead.
Just pause with me.
This isn’t a lecture.
This isn’t a khutbah.
This isn’t me preaching at you.
This is real talk.
Just you and me.
I’m not writing this from some mountain of perfection.
I’m right here with you — in the same struggle.
I’ve slipped.
I’ve delayed things I knew were important.
I’ve fallen short.
But today…
Let’s face something uncomfortable. Together.
Say It With Your Soul
Let’s try something. Right now.

Answer these three questions — not with your tongue, but with your soul:
مَن ربك؟
Who is your Lord?
ما دينك؟
What is your religion?
من نبيك؟
Who is your Prophet?
You’ve been taught these answers.
You probably whispered them under your breath just now.
But this time…
Close your mouth.
Silence your tongue.
And let your soul speak.
Can it?
Because one day — that’s exactly what will happen.
Picture It With Me

Your time is up.
They’ve washed your body.
They’ve wrapped you.
They lower you into the grave.
You hear the dirt hitting the wood.
And then… silence.
Their footsteps fade away.
Your chest tightens — not from fear yet, but from the sudden weight of being completely alone.
It’s dark.
It’s cold.
It’s real.
Then, suddenly — you’re made to sit up.
Two of the most terrifying angels Allah ever created — Munkar and Nakir — stand before you.
Their eyes pierce you.
Their voices shake the earth.
And they ask you:
مَن ربك؟
ما دينك؟
من نبيك؟
But now —
Your tongue won’t help you.
Your memorization won’t save you.
Only your soul will speak.
And it will only say what you lived.
The Prophet ﷺ Told Us
“When the deceased is placed in the grave and his companions leave, he hears their footsteps.
Then two angels come, make him sit and ask him:
‘Who is your Lord?’
He will say: ‘My Lord is Allah.’They will ask: ‘What is your religion?’
He will say: ‘My religion is Islam.’They will ask: ‘Who is this man who was sent among you?’
He will say: ‘He is the Messenger of Allah.’Then a caller will call from the heavens:
‘My servant has spoken the truth.’”
(Sunan Abi Dawood 4753)
But the Prophet ﷺ also warned us:
“If he (the hypocrite or disbeliever) says: ‘I don’t know,’
they will strike him with an iron hammer, and he will let out a scream which everything near him hears — except mankind and jinn.”
(Sunan Abi Dawood)
That terrifies me, Walhi.
Because I’ve asked myself:
- What if I say the wrong thing?
- What if my heart stutters?
- What if I lived in a way that proved I didn’t mean what I memorized?
But for the Believer…
A voice will call out from the heavens:
“My servant has spoken the truth.
So spread out a bed for him from Paradise,
clothe him from Paradise,
and open a gate for him to Paradise.”
A breeze will come from Jannah.
The grave will be made wide.
Filled with light.
That’s the goal.
That’s what I want for you.
And that’s what I’m begging Allah ﷻ for — for both of us.
Don’t Just Memorize — Live It
This isn’t just a reminder.
It’s a mirror.
When that moment comes:
- No script.
- No Instagram quotes.
- No TikTok reminders.
- No lectures.
Just you.
And your soul.
And it will speak what it lived.

You vs. You
This isn’t:
- You vs. the dunya.
- You vs. your past.
- You vs. shaytaan.
It’s you vs. you.
You vs. your decisions.
You vs. your excuses.
You vs. your sincerity.
You vs. your worship.
I’m not writing this because I’ve figured it all out.
I’m writing this because I haven’t.
Because I need this reminder just as badly as you do.
So Here We Are…
I’ve drifted.
I’ve delayed.
I’ve ignored what I knew was important.
And I’m still fighting that.
But the fact that I’m writing this…
And the fact that you’re reading this…
Means we’re still here.
And that means we still have time.
So don’t just live with words on your tongue.
Live with truth in your heart.
Because one day,
your soul will be called to speak.
And it will not lie.

Duʿāʾ
O Allah,
make our hearts firm upon Your truth.
Make our private lives better than what people see.
Let our souls answer You with certainty, not confusion.
O Allah, when we are placed in our graves and left alone,
grant us peace instead of fear,
light instead of darkness,
and a door to Jannah instead of regret.
Forgive our delays.
Forgive our excuses.
Forgive the moments we knew better but chose otherwise.
O Allah, allow us to live in a way
that when our souls are called to speak,
they speak with truth.
Grant us a good ending,
and reunite us in Jannah
without حساب or punishment.
Āmīn.
